Foundation

In Physical Education this semester students have been performing basic motor skills and movement patterns, as well as developing various instructional activities, which include; throwing, catching, running and jumping. Students used simple vocabulary to describe movements and were regularly encouraged to learn numerous muscle groups at the beginning of each lesson. Students were also encouraged to follow rules and procedures and to share equipment and space safely. During the unit of throwing and catching, students were required to focus on correct technique whilst aiming at a target, and later tested on their throwing technique using different objects, such as a beanbag, tennis ball and flying vortex. Students also performed various movements and activities in different playing areas of the school. This provided them with an opportunity to adapt to different surfaces and conditions.Students were assessed on their level of participation and on understanding rules and instruction, as well as their ability to adapt to skill based learning of fundamental motor skills.
