An EPIC Challenge Strengthens Ties!

2015 was a truly memorable experience for both East Preston Islamic and ÌÇÐÄvlogÆƽâ°æ College. All involved look forward to future sporting programs, which will strengthen the ties for many more years to come inshaAllah.

East Preston Islamic College played host to the 2015 EPIC vs ASC Soccer Challenge. Now in it’s third consecutive year, students from years five to seven, both boys and girls, participated in the competition.

Upon arrival students from ÌÇÐÄvlogÆƽâ°æ were given a warm and pleasurable welcome, and later moved on to their respective soccer areas. The girls competition was held in the gymnasium, and the boys, on the undercover hard-court.

To kick off proceedings the Grade 5/6 teams commenced play first. The games consisted of two 20-minute halves, with a short brake in-between. The girls 5/6 match was played in amazing spirit, and on this occasion ASC were victors 6 – 0. The 5/6 ASC boys team were also amongst the winners with a 3 – 0 triumph. In a fast and very skillful display, EPIC looked strong early during the year seven boys match. EPIC opened the scoring early and added another, leading 2 – 0 at the halftime break. The ASC boys had numerous opportunities. However, the strong defense and forceful pressure from the EPIC midfield players proved too strong, leaving ASC scoreless and taking the year seven game 3 – 0.

Despite an even matchup, EPIC year seven girls were equally as impressive as their boys team, managing six balls into the back of the ASC net. To ASC’s credit, the girls managed to score three of their own, finishing the game 6 – 3 EPIC girls’ way.

At the conclusion of the competition, ASC gifted the EPIC teams with a team signed soccer ball as a small token of appreciation. However, words alone could not do justice to the gratitude and appreciation ASC have for the outstanding support and organisation of this fantastic program. Furthermore, both teams were treated with a delicious BBQ lunch consisting of sausages and chicken wraps supplied by EPIC.

During dhuhr pray, all students united in front of Allah SWT in the EPIC Mosque. This was a beautiful example of the brotherhood and sisterhood in Islam. Vice Principal Neil Hasankolli, made a heart warming and lovely speech after prayer, followed by Mr Saleh in thanks from ASC.
