Multi-Cultural Diversity Day

29 March 2019
Multi-Cultural Diversity Day

"The beauty of the world lies in the diversity of its people. We may have different languages, colours but we belong to one human race. Regardless of our differences, we are all the same."

Our Primary students from Foundation to Year 6 as well as their teachers celebrated Multi-Cultural Diversity Day with a special outdoors assembly and a cultural parade.

We would like to thank you all so much for the beautiful and colourful display of our multi-cultural diversity! It was wonderful to see so many students, staff and parents decked out in their traditional outfits, carrying flags of their home country or ethnic belonging while being proud Australian Muslims. Everyone looked truly stunning, mashaAllah, as the many photos reflect.

A warm Thank You to all the students and staff who spoke about their heritage and cultural belonging at the assembly. Thank you as well to Ms Heba and Ms Aisyah for being our wonderful MC鈥檚 during today鈥檚 Cultural Parade, and to Ms Gulsen for organising our special guest Mitch Tambo, a proud Gamilaraay/Birri Gubba man from our First Nation people, to represent the traditional owners and custodians of our land.

A special THANK YOU as well to Ms Mehreen for putting her heart, time and effort into putting the following video clip together, featuring the many different languages spoken at the College. Students and staff were asked to say "We all are different, but we all belong" in different languages, showcasing the beautiful diversity found at our College and within the wider Australian community. This is further enhanced by the following verses from our noble Qur'an:

"O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honoured of you with Allah is the one who most righteous. Verily, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware." (Al Hujraat: 13)

May this celebration of our diversity serve extra meaning after the tragedy in Christchurch and be more than just a fun day at school: May it help us all to connect, start conversations and help getting to know and understand each other. Let us do everything we can to ensure our children will grow into a future where they will know, respect and love one another, inShaAllah.
