I am very honoured, privileged and humbled to be unanimously elected as the president for Whittlesea Interfaith Network. I鈥檓 also incredibly pleased to announce that my good friend and colleague Ms Tanja Kubitza has been unanimously elected as Vice President of Whittlesea Interfaith Network, making us the first Muslim women to be elected for both leadership positions.
I hope that through this platform we鈥檙e able to continue building on the good work of our respected outgoing president, Reverend Margaret Hartley and the previous executive teams, in building greater social cohesion and harmony in our community.
In the year ahead, together with our newly elected executive team, we hope to form new partnerships, with a focus on young people and our local indigenous community, as well as strengthening existing partnerships to deliver a robust calendar of events and programs.
The new executive team consists of:
- President: Gulhan Eryegit Yoldas
- Vice President: Tanja Kubitza
- Secretary: Glenys Southurst
- Assistant Secretary: Farzaneh Dehghan
- Treasurer: Dorothy Foley
- Public Relations Officer: Gurinder Kaur
Our aim is to establish platforms for greater interfaith dialogue as a pathway to greater social cohesion and harmony.
We live in unprecedented times where interfaith dialogue and collaboration has never been more important, to build communities where people approach one another with curiosity and compassion and treat one another with respect and friendship. These are traits prevalent in every member of Whittlesea Interfaith Network.
We warmly welcome people from all faiths living or working within the City of Whittlesea to join our team and be a part of an ambitious year ahead.
