"Fishy Stories" – Fish Creek Writing Challenge 2023

We are pleased to announce that for the first time ever, 15 our our ÌÇÐÄvlogÆƽâ°æ students from Primary Year 2 to Secondary Year 7 submitted a story each for this year’s Fishy Stories Writing Competition 2023.

Fish Creek is an idyllic small town and home to an arts and culture hub for South Gippsland. The Fishy Stories Writing Challenge initiative, created with the UNESCO Melbourne Office of the City of Literature, launched in 2022 with an amazing outcome of hundreds of entries and is set to grow on a national basis. This year, the Committee had received some 750+ entries from both Greater and South Gippsland as well as some city and interstate schools.

The Judging Panels were amazed by the quality and diversity of stories from all ages. Stories about family, friendship, grief, trees, the bush, pets, science fiction, horror and crazy stories; intriguing and fanciful stories; all wonderful stories!

Congratulations to our Year 7 LEAP student Hana Wasfy who was named one of the 20 students chosen to have their stories performed at the 2023 Festival in Fish Creek last month!

Congratulations to all our 15 student writers. You may like to read their and all the other wonderful stories submitted by children around Australia for the 2023 Fishy Stories Writing Challenge in the link below:
